My Re-Discovery of Feng Shui (fuhng shwey)
Feng Shui (pronouced as fuhng shwey) the Chinese art or practice of creating harmonious surroundings that enhance the balance of yin and yang, as in arranging furniture or determining the siting of a house. In English, it means “wind-water”. This is the meaning given in a dictionary, but to me Feng Shui is a way of life.
I got fascinated with Feng Shui recently because it brought positivity and optimism in my life. I remember when I was 10 years old, even as a kid I like drawing house designs and interior designs. It became a past time to me when I am not doing anything. My hand will sore from drawing those sketches, I used so many notebooks, I acquired large veins in my right hand and arm, and my Mom will always ask me to stop sketching to rest my arm, but I will still go on. But too bad I didn’t keep those sketches! Until I stopped doing those sketches when I was in my teens. There were lots of things that distracted me. But after high school, I want to become an Architect but people discouraged me because they said “a woman have no space in the world of architecture”. They favor men over women in that profession. But I think its serendipity because I end up studying Philosophy in an “accidental” way. Its a long story. Now, it dawned to me that everything that happened in my life fits like a big puzzle. It brought me to where I started. I used to regret my past of the wrong decisions I’ve done in my life. But now, all I feel is positivity and optimism in the future. I end up re-discovering life and Feng Shui in a period where my life is wonderful and surrounded by my loved ones.
I hope as I worked on this blog, I’ll be able to share what I’m learning about Feng Shui. Little by little I will add articles about Feng Shui. I just hope I can master how to pronounce it sooner.
