To all my visitors and readers, I apologize for not posting much the past months. 2009 has been a roller-coaster ride that took my attention and concentration from blogging. I know from previous experience that when you don’t feel like blogging, don’t blog. You will just end up blogging not from the heart.

If 2009 wasn’t a good year for you, cheer up! because according to feng shui experts and astrologers, 2010 year of the Tiger will bring hope to everyone. The Chinese associate Tiger with good fortune, power, and royalty. This is the best year for those who want to open a business or for those looking for employment. Despite the global economic meltdown, like a Tiger we should face obstacles in life fearlessly. Let it not dampen our spirit. Don’t let depression beat us.

But  are you ready to say goodbye to 2009?  I am.  So here’s a “ritual” you can do to drive away “negative energies” and start good in the year of the Tiger. The purpose of the “ritual” is to let go the “negative energies” in your life. To start the “ritual,” you’ll need a paper and pen or pencil. Fold the paper in three columns.

1. First column, write all the negative things, events, etc. that happened to you in 2009.

2. Second column, write all the negative attitude that you don’t like about you.

3. Third column, write all your “hatred”, “frustrations” and “fears”.

4.  When you’re finished making the list, say these words, “I am letting go all the negative energies in my life. I am ready to move forward and start a new life.”

Now…set fire to it! Light a match and BURN IT! Let all those negative energies turn into ashes.  Just make sure you burn your list somewhere safe. We don’t want you homeless in 2010.

The burning of your “negative list” symbolizes that you are willing to change for the better. Hence, negative energies have no place in your life. Let’s all try to think  positive all throughout 2010 and beyond. I think positive attitude plus positive outlook in life is the key to a successful and happy life. Happy New Year everyone!

Now that we know the different directions in feng shui, its time to find the most auspicious and advantageous working area to apply feng shui, specifically our desk and chair and/or working area. In doing this, it is believed in feng shui that you will have a better working condition and will help you achieve your goals.

“The desk position aligns you with the underlying flow of chi in the room. But the direction you face while sitting at it has the greatest influence.”

Here are the most advantageous position for your working area whether it’s just a small space or a spacious room:

Sitting NW, facing SE – this position enhances leadership, organization, responsibility as well as dignity and trustworthiness. Facing SE is helpful for expansion, creativity and communication.

Sitting NE, Facing E – this position is useful for someone lacking drive, or looking for new direction. It is particularly suitable for people dealing in real estate.

Sitting E, facing E – the chi in this position is even more intense, favoring quick starts and fast growth. This is excellent for anyone starting a new career or business, particularly in the computer or electronics industry.

Sitting E, facing SE – this position is similar to E facing E, but the atmosphere is less intense, bringing out qualities conducive to communication, creativity and harmonious development. People working in the media or travel business are likely to find this supportive.

Sitting E, facing S – this position is active, busy and helpful for putting ideas into practice. It is also supportive of public recognition and promotion, so would suit someone in PR, sales and advertising. But his is not a good position if you feel restless and find it difficult to concentrate.

Sitting SE, facing E – this position is similar to sitting in E facing SE, only the relative importance of the directions is reversed. The location of the desk determines the underlying chi energy present. But the direction you face has the greatest influence, so the E is dominant.

Sitting SE, facing S – this combination of energies is ideal for people working in PR, marketing or any activity that involves communication. It is also good for lawyers. The chi energy here is very active, so is not advisable for someone who becomes easily stressed or excited.

Sitting W, facing E – in the W position, you are immersed in the chi energy related to income, contentment and pleasure. Facing E helps you to become more ambitious, active and better able to put your ideas into practice. It is particularly helpful for people working in finance.

If you noticed the common auspicious position for the desk and chair/working area is either facing East or South, where the sun shines. Helping you to take advantage of feng shui ways to achieve your goals. I positioned my desk and chair/working area sitting E, facing E for the fast growth of my blog. I think it won’t hurt if you’ll try some of these advantageous position. Based on my personal experience, I can say that my blog’s traffic went up and I now have 58 subscribers. Try it and see the difference!

So here’s my list:

1. Golden Money frog

I got my golden money frog as a gift from a friend. I wasn’t into feng shui that time, but when she gave me the money frog she instructed me to place it facing our main entrance door to attract good luck, specifically to welcome wealth and prosperity. I did what she advised me to do and I felt that the flow of money last year was good compared to the previous years. It is believed that the same way a toad captures his food is the same way it will help you capture wealth.

2. Ang Pow and gold chinese coins

The ang pow with gold chinese coins inside it is my favorite. It’s the reason why I got interested in feng shui. I bought gold chinese coins in a feng shui store for good luck. Antique coins in China had a square hole in the center, through which the yin energy can pass through. The round shape of the coin correspond to the yang energy. Different feng shui applications using coins proved to be lucky. I should know, it worked for me! When I purchased my gold chinese coins, they placed the coins in a quartz singing bowl and use a wooden beater “to activate” its energy. They wrapped my coins in a bill with number “8″ in the serial numbers. I put it in my wallet and ever since, I felt a slight change that money comes easily and it stays.

3. Jade Plant/Money Plant to enhance wealth luck

The jade plant’s fleshy and round leaves like coins made it the popular symbol of wealth and prosperity in feng shui. They said that it takes 10 years for a jade plant to produce flowers and under specific conditions. It is believed that when the flowers of the jade plant blooms, money will begin to flow into the house. The best part is, this plant is sturdy and you can grow it inside your house. Nothing beats having real plants at home.

4.  Using Mirrors for the “Doubling effect”

Mirrors have been widely used as one of the feng shui remedies. The proper way of placing mirrors at home or at work create wonders and misfortune at the same time if improperly positioned. But since we’re talking about attracting good luck, placing a mirror reflecting your dining table in a sense doubles the food in the table. If you noticed, some businesses surround their restaurants or fast food chains with mirrors to create the same thing, to double the customers and sales. There are also some businesses that have a mirror reflecting the cash register in the hope that each bill received or already in the cash register will be doubled.

5. Crystals

The facets of a crystal create a reflecting surface like a small mirror, hence it is ideal to influence the chi energy.  The crystal that I chose was red “”drop” crystal that will help me become known in the www (dreaming is free). Its for good luck to achieve fame.  Its also a good decorative piece when you place different crystals in a glass bowl. Choose the color of the crystal that you like to enhance in your life.

Like any other guides, these are just feng shui suggestions. In the end when you work hard you will achieve the things you aspire for this year.

Chimes are one of my fave home decors. I just love the pleasant sound it creates. The sound created should be clear, pure, and considered pleasant by the people living with them. Chimes are important feng shui remedies. They can be used to slow down or guide the flow of energy, or to announce a person entering a room or home. Chimes are effective even if they are motionless. But some important reminders – always make sure the water is clean, don’t place objects next to the fountain that belong to the fire element and don’t place the fountain in front of a window. Let’s add more essential stuff that will help you achieve a stress free life. People have burned incense for cleansing purposes and ritual ceremonies for long time. In more recent times, aromatherapy uses variety of fascinating fragrances as a way to touch the soul. In Feng shui, burning of incense is to cleanse and remove negative energies from a room or home. Daily incense burning is highly recommended in places where negative energies are particular strong, as in sickrooms, waiting rooms, places used for meditation or therapy, etc. But the best application is as follows – before moving into a new home or house, after an illness or conflict, anytime, depending on individual preferences, or as a regular ritual and daily, as support during meditation or relaxation. I must have this aqua square coffee center table! It is awesome to see those live fish swimming freely while I sip my favorite cup of hot Cappuccino. Its so relaxing and it relieves my stress. A stress buster is a must after a long day at work.

I’ve always been in love with fishes, in fact I have my own aquarium for years. But not like this aquarium center table, its in my wish list now… calling, calling, generous people.

The Feng Shui of the week talks about the benefits of having an aquarium at home, office or  wherever you fancy setting up one. An aquarium contains everything that is powerful and creative in nature – its diversity and possibility of growth. You can see aquariums displayed in office buildings and restaurants that are always in the appropriate bagua area. In Feng Shui, to attract wealth using your aquarium as a symbol, you need:

8 red or golden goldfish

1 black goldfish

It is said that the black goldfish has the job of absorbing and displacing the bad luck of the eight goldfish. It is very important that the aquarium must be clean, clear and fresh. Replace a dead goldfish right away, to keep the equilibrium and good flow of positive “chi.” It is believed in Feng Shui that goldfish in an aquarium serve a purpose, signifying: “May gold and precious stones fill this house.” The applications of having an aquarium is to increase and vitalize the energy in a room, for relaxation and to relieve stress, and to strengthen the Water element of a person or a room. As gas prices keeps going up, more and more people are looking for ways to increase their income or at least to attract wealth. Who doesn’t want to have extra cash to spare? Or shop till you drop? In Feng Shui, there are many applications that will help you attract wealth and prosperity. For this week, I feature the lucky I-Ching coins or metal coins that are common prosperity symbols in Feng Shui. Didn’t you notice that I keep on posting about “how to attract wealth and prosperity” in my Feng Shui posts. Simply because I also want to try them. To be honest, the reason I was hooked in Feng Shui was because of trying out these lucky I-Ching coins. I made my first purchase at a Feng Shui store that “promises” I will never run out of cash if I place a three I-Ching lucky coins wrapped in a dollar bill (with at least with number “8″ in the serial numbers) and place it inside a lucky Chinese red envelope – then I placed the red envelope with I-Ching lucky coins in my wallet. And it worked for me! I mean, when I am about to run out of cash in my wallet something will arrive or come up (aside from my regular salary).

So what does these I-Ching lucky coins in Feng Shui really mean?

Coins in China have been used since the 7th century BC. The antique coins from China had a square hole in the center which the energy of the earth (yin) could enter. The round shape corresponds to the energy of the heavens (yang). In Feng Shui, coins are thought to bring good luck and worn for protection. Several coins (three, five, or nine) are strung on two red (the color signifying joy) silk ribbons. The ribbons are fed through the square holes in the coins’ center and tied together to make a good luck ribbon, which is hung near the entrance to attract good luck and defend against harm and evil.

Special lucky coins had different symbols and signs on the surface: 1) a bat means “Good luck is right in front of your eyes”; 2) Nine coins on a string signify uninterrupted good luck.

So you want to try if this will work for you? Here are some applications you can try to attract wealth that may work for you:1) 8 coins strung on a red silk ribbon hung near or above the cash register; 2) A large coin in a glass bowl lines with red or blue velvet; 3) 3 coins in a red envelope placed under a healthy, strong plant as a symbolic gesture of letting money grow; 4) 4 coins in a square red envelope attached to each bed leg, out of view, for continuing goodluck.

There’s no harm in trying, may wealth and prosperity be with us!

The dragon is a well-known ancient symbol in feng shui. It symbolizes energy, strength and prosperity. A dragon holding an orb or pearl believed to symbolizes that it invites rain. Since it is usually associated to bring good luck, we often see the dragon symbols carved on gates, roofs, royal flags, clothing and many more. The dragon and phoenix is a symbol of masculine (yang) and feminine (yin) nature, that’s why it also symbolizes a married couple.

If you like dragon figurine like I do (I am born under the year of the dragon), place the dragon figurine near tall plants, cabinets, etc. If its a sculpture dragon, it also attract good luck, productiveness and perseverance. Just a reminder though, make sure the face of the dragon is facing the door.

Recently, my Bambam gave me a Money Tree plant as a present for my birthday. I was elated! I have been interested in feng shui and what is a better way to start it is to have a money tree plant at home. My Bambam knows me pretty well. LOL

It is believed in feng shui that a Money Tree plant brings good luck and fortune. Especially if its given to you as a present. The five leaves of the Money Tree symbolizes 5 fingers, like an open hand. It means you are always ready to accept luck, wealth and prosperity. But the more leaves the better, especially if my Money tree will have 7 or 8 leaves which is rare. (crossing my fingers) You can place it the South, South East or South West to attract wealth luck into the home. I placed mine in the SE. Every morning, I let it get a bit of sunlight and water it every other day. Just making sure that the soil is moist. I also talked to my money tree (crazy huh?) just telling my plant to grow strong and pretty. Plants are living things and they are sensitive too.

Now, the only thing I am waiting is for my money tree plant to become like this soon.
