I like fabulous storage that can help keep clutter away. That is why when I see something as fab as the Optic Storage Cubes, decluttering while keeping your stuff is a happy treat. Who wouldn’t want these colorful storage boxes? It will make any home look modern, sleek and fab! Kartell made these stackable storage boxes. The fab thing about these 16″ x 16″ cubes, you can see different kinds of light in different angles and they have different colors to mix and match. You can also have an open cube or a cube with door for a concealed look. I am beginning to be a big fan of Kartell. I think can live in their showroom.

Not happy with your living room? Maybe it’s time to feng shui your living room to create peace and harmony in your life.

The ideal and favorable location of the living room is in the South-East, characterized by lively, uplifting tree energy.

Tree energy is one of the five elements in feng shui. Some call it Wood energy. When we say uplifting the tree energy, it means using wooden furniture, actual plants, any wood or paper and tall green objects.

But do you know that there are things to avoid in the living room? Here’s the list and why:

Spiky plants – sharp-pointed leaves cuts the chi energy preventing smooth flow in your living room. So plants like palms and yuccas should be avoided. These plants are not safe around kids anyway.

Clutter! – we all know that a cluttered room leads to a cluttered life. In feng shui, to prevent chi energy from stagnating, keep the living rooms free of household clutter and too many decorative objects. Less is more. Ottomans in living rooms are good storage for clutter if you’re having a hard time parting with your stuff.

Closed curtains – we should keep the curtains open to allow energizing sunlight  freely  into the rooms. Keep curtains wide open during the day. You will also save energy by using natural light in daytime.

Over-furnishing – chi energy needs to move so keep furniture to a minimum.

Protruding corners – protruding corners like the sharp corner of a shelf or side table must be covered to avoid cutting the chi energy. You can screen them by using bushy plants or drape them with fabric/tablecloth.

Now after you applied feng shui in your living room but still feels stagnant, a water feature can boost favorable chi energy especially if  placed in the south-east part of the room. You can use an aquarium, a waterfall painting, and the like. Happy reorganizing!

My favorite is the color blue. When the rainy season is over, the umbrella stand may be supplied with a stainless steel upper tray as an ashtray. It’s one of the products of Kartell and their plastics can be easily recycled. Now that’s what I called eco-friendly and fabulous. Gotta love eco-fab products!

Modern interior home style is the “it” these days. Gone are the days of dark wooden panelings and dark furniture. The modern interior home designs that I now see have plenty of light, fresh, artsy, alive and very inviting to make anyone a homebody. These wall, decal and window stickers rock! What I like about it – it’s affordable, eye-catching, DIY and it doesn’t damage the walls/windows. You can stick ‘em and remove it when you want to without leaving any residue. Ferm Living designed these fab wall stickers and Emma Jeffs designed the window adhesives. They have stickers/adhesives for every mood and every room, like for a nursery room the animal tower stickers are cute. Check out these fabulous window and wall treatments I found from Feel More Human. My favorites are barcode wall sticker and white clover window adhesive. But if you want something totally different and something unique in your walls, check out the huge Finger Print wall stickers and Power Pole stickers. But there are so many designs to choose from.

In Feng shui, the shapes, materials and colors of objects you put in your home make the chi energy there more yin or more yang. If you like a room to be more yang (active) like your living room, go for the barcode wall stickers. Straight lines are considred more yang. While rounded shapes like the flora wall stickers are generally considered more yin (passive) so this is more suited in the bedroom where you want to get a good night sleep.

Whenever I find fabulous modern interior design/style for homes, I always feel a rush and it makes me happy that I discovered another great idea to design my home sweet home… soon. I can’t wait to move.

Thinking of moving? Wait up! You may want to try these Feng Shui tips to ensure a good and positive vibes to  your new home. If you can, redecorate throughout, replace all carpets, curtains and remove any soft furnishings left behind, like beds. There’s an old belief in China that beds play a significant role in married couples life. Previous occupants experiences and past events are stuck in beds. Hence, antique beds that were pass on from generation to generation possess a profound past. In Feng Shui, it is suggested to clean the bed well – place it under the sun, rain or burn incense before using the bed, or better yet keep it in storage. Additional suggestion, make your move in the Summer or Spring because during those times, “chi” energy is more yang and upward. Choose a dry sunny day to activate old “chi” energy in your new home and enable it to leave your new home easily. So now that you know whether you are too yin or too yang, its time to keep the ball rolling by infusing yin and yang in your home. In the previous post about yin or yang, knowing if you’re too yin (passive) or yang (active) will solve the imbalance in your life.

The shapes, materials and colors of objects you put in your home make the “chi” energy there more yin or yang. This provides you with ways to alter the “chi” energy of your home to suit your needs.

Imagine your bedroom painted in skyblue, your bed comfy and beddings all white, light full curtains… all these makes a yin environment which is ideal for sleeping. In fastfood restaurants, everything is shiny, bright colored – red, orange, yellow, the surfaces are hard that makes a yang environment and attracts people not to relax but to leave as they finish eating. People reacts to colors, shapes and materials around them. The above bedroom is a sample of a yin environment, pastel colors not too bright just right for a good snooze. The Madera in Moss beddings are all in sale(!) from Inhabit Living. If my bedroom looks like that I won’t leave my bed.

Here’s some yin and yang objects that you can try at home:

floors – more yin: carpets, cork tiles, etc.; more yang: marble, hardwoods, etc.

furnishings – more yin: large cushions, tapestries, etc.; more yang: stone sculptures, mirrors, etc.

window treatments – more yin: full draped curtains, etc.; more yang: shutters, metal slated blinds, etc.

I was just looking for a glass tea kettle but seeing the Museum Glass Teapot like an “art form” is truly awesome. Its like a teapot and incense in one. I swear I love VivaTerra!
